My Terms of Service
For all my services and/or products
I, Sara Davies, am a self-employed sole trader. I am not a limited company. I am not registered for VAT as I do not meet the turnover required for registration. My services and/or products are intended for use by responsible adults aged 18 years or older.
If you have any questions relating to my ‘terms of service’ (also known as ‘terms and conditions’), please contact me, Sara Davies, by email: petsandtheirpeople@yahoo.co.uk
My terms of service may change from time to time.
Last updated 15th July 2025.
Please note that if you follow a link from my website(s), or are redirected to a third-party website, these terms of service no longer apply, and you should check the terms of service of that site.
Intellectual property
Services: Any behaviour modification or treatment plan, including any factsheets/handouts, is tailored to your pet and/or situation only and must not be shared outside of your household or beyond those who have responsibility for your pet temporarily (e.g. your pet sitter). It could be dangerous to do so. Any advice (including any factsheets/handouts) given to fellow veterinary or pet professionals, whether paid or for free, should not be shared outside of those with an immediate need to know (e.g. for a member of veterinary practice staff, that means outside of the client whose pet you have enquired about, your practice, and any exterior veterinary professionals or paraprofessionals for whom the advice would be important). It could be dangerous to do so. In addition, any behaviour modification or treatment plans or advice in any medium (including any electronic recordings, or factsheets/handouts written by me), whether purchased or free, are the intellectual property of Sara Davies and are protected by copyright (https://www.gov.uk/copyright).
Products: Any courses/presentations or electronic resources, whether purchased or free, are the intellectual property of Sara Davies and are protected by copyright (https://www.gov.uk/copyright).

You must not share, lend, copy, adapt, perform, or distribute any of my courses/presentations or other electronic resources, or any excerpt from them, in any medium (including electronic and print media), whether free of charge or for sale, without the written permission of Sara Davies. This includes the sharing of your account and/or log-in details.
Where downloadable PDFs are provided with a course/presentation or electronic resource, they should be used for the purpose they were intended only (which will be clearly indicated within that course/presentation or resource), and in the format provided, only.

You must not share, lend, or distribute your account and/or log-in details (in my learning management system hosted by ‘Thinkific’) to anyone, including friends and/or clients, and/or colleagues, and/or other practice members, without the written permission of Sara Davies.
I, Sara Davies reserve the right to unenrol anyone from any of my courses/presentations and/or electronic resources, and/or delete the account of anyone (in my learning management system hosted by ‘Thinkific’), found to be contravening any of the above, with immediate effect and without notification or refund.
Bookings (for services)
If something comes up and you are running late or can’t make a scheduled in-person or Zoom meeting, or telephone call, please contact me to let me know; we can reschedule if necessary. Up until the day of the meeting, or call, you can email me (petsandtheirpeople@yahoo.co.uk). However, if it’s on the day of the meeting or phone call, please contact me by text, or WhatsApp, or by leaving a voicemail (you will have my telephone number by then, but I do not want it publicly available, so I won’t put it here). I don’t mind having to rearrange an in-person or Zoom meeting or telephone call on an odd occasion, but if it becomes a habit, I reserve the right to charge you for wasted time, and/or to terminate my services.
Fees & Payment
My standard fees for services (e.g. behaviour consultation services with pet owners/carers, or advice for other veterinary or pet professionals) are as stated on my website. Every one to two years, I will increase my fees by a small amount. If you are still working with me when a price increase is due, you will be warned at least one calendar month in advance. Payment is due within 72 hours of me sending the invoice electronically (this will also be the invoice date). Payment is by the bank ‘Faster Payments Service’ (this is my preferred method), or a third-party payment processor (‘Stripe’), allowing you to use various credit or debit cards and online wallets. I am a micro-business, a sole trader, therefore I cannot afford to have payment delays. Invoices are normally sent out after the first consultation/advice session and periodically thereafter (monthly to quarterly), depending on how long we work together. I do not require any payment before the first consultation.
For bespoke services, where there is no standard fee on my website, please contact me by email (at petsandtheirpeople@yahoo.co.uk) and I will give you an estimate (verbal and/or written) which will be valid for one calendar month.
Where invoices for services remain unpaid one calendar month after the invoice date, I reserve the right to use a debt collection service or the small claims court. Any associated costs incurred will be added to the outstanding balance and may damage your credit rating. I also reserve the right to suspend all services until all outstanding sums are settled.
Fees for my courses/presentations and other online electronic resources are as stated on my website, in the learning management system hosted by ‘Thinkific’ (the learning management system I use to provide courses/presentations and other electronic resources). All payments for these courses/presentations and other online resources are electronic and are conducted by my payment processing partner, ‘Thinkific Payments’, at the time of purchase; this allows you to use various credit or debit cards.
Pet Insurance Claims (for services)
I require full and timely payment (see above) from you, even if you have pet insurance. As a UK practising veterinary surgeon, a full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC), and an Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) registered veterinary behaviourist, I can fill in insurance forms for most pet insurance claims in the UK, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man. I must fill these in honestly (to do otherwise may constitute insurance fraud) and cannot guarantee you will be reimbursed. I have no ‘contract’ with the pet insurance company, so they are under no obligation to settle with me; however, you are, as I have a ‘contract’ with you. Thus, I normally require you to pay me directly, and then I will complete and log a pet insurance claim for you in a timely manner (within 7 days of receiving a payment from you, but often just a couple of days). I do not make a charge for filling in these forms.
Occasionally, on a case-by-case basis, I will accept direct payment from a pet insurance company, and you will only need to pay those portions of my invoice that they do not, e.g. the excess and any other excluded amounts (remember, this could be the full amount). Sometimes it is hard to know until they have contacted you regarding settlement, exactly what your portion will be (it could be anything up to the full amount). In these cases, I allow some leeway in the timeliness of settling your portion, but I will expect it no later than one calendar month following the date of my invoice, as most claims are settled within that period unless disputed. If a dispute occurs, I will expect full payment from you, regardless, no later than one calendar month following the date of the disputed invoice. After that time, I reserve the right to use a debt collection service or the small claims court to recoup my fees. Any associated costs incurred will be added to the outstanding balance and may damage your credit rating. I also reserve the right to suspend all services until all outstanding sums are settled.
Refunds
Refunds for services (e.g. behaviour consultations for pet owners/carers, or advice for other veterinary or pet professionals). Services are adequately described on the website and/or by email. I am also happy to answer any questions, by email and/or telephone, before you book the service, so there should not be a mis-selling issue. On the rare occasion there is a valid case for mis-selling, partial refunds may be considered at the sole discretion of me, Sara Davies, by email (to petsandtheirpeople@yahoo.co.uk).
Refunds for products (e.g. my courses/presentations and other online electronic resources). Products are adequately described on the website, and I am happy to answer any questions, by email, before you purchase a product. All products are designed to be excellent value for money. There will therefore be no refunds, as there should not be a mis-selling issue. On the rare occasion there is a valid case for mis-selling, partial refunds may be considered at the sole discretion of me, Sara Davies, by email (to petsandtheirpeople@yahoo.co.uk).
Privacy & Cookie Policies
I recommend you view my Privacy Policy (for all services and products), available on my website, which also includes my cookie policy for using my website(s).
Security
I have standard web security measures to maintain the safety and security of your information, but I cannot be held responsible for any breaches of security.
If you contact me electronically, and/or purchase and/or use one of my products (e.g. online courses/presentations or other electronic resources), I recommend that if you share your devices with others you should close your browser window and/or switch off your device when you have finished your session. This will help to ensure that others cannot access your personal information.
Liability
You use my websites at your own risk. I cannot guarantee that my websites will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Whilst I take great care as to the accuracy and reliability of the content of my products (e.g. courses/presentations and other online resources) and website(s), I cannot be held responsible for how you apply that content to your pet, or your client’s pet, or situation if the animal is not under my direct care; even where they are, there are limits to my liability. Material in my products and on my website(s) is provided for general information only and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for clinical or care decisions. Whilst I update my products and websites regularly, I cannot guarantee all information is current at the time you view it. Any reliance on the material in my products or on my website(s) is at your own risk.
Because of where I am licensed to practice veterinary medicine, and the coverage of both my professional indemnity and public liability insurance I can only offer case-based services to pet owner/carers and other veterinary or pet professionals (and the animals they are caring for) living in the UK, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man. My liability for any claims, damages, or losses arising from my services and/or products (courses/presentations and other online resources) and/or website(s) is limited in accordance with my insurance coverage. For uninsured claims, damages, or losses, my liability is restricted to the value of services and/or products that are relevant to the claim, damages, or losses.
By the very nature of the internet, my products (e.g. online courses/presentations and other electronic resources) could be purchased and/or used by anyone anywhere in the world. Should you, for some reason, want to make a dispute or claim in connection with my products it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. The parties irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with my products. That way, it can be done through my insurance company.
Complaints
I aim to deliver high-quality services and/or products, with excellent levels of client/customer care. Consequently, I always take complaints seriously so that I can not only resolve the current complaint but also improve my services and/or products in the future. If you feel I have fallen short of my aims, please email me (at petsandtheirpeople@yahoo.co.uk) as soon as possible, but certainly within one calendar month of whatever incident initiated your complaint. I will consider your complaint carefully and do what I can to offer a resolution. Normally, this would be within one calendar month, by email, unless my own personal circumstances do not allow (e.g. I am on holiday, or in hospital), given that I work alone. Where there has been a delay due to my personal circumstances, you will be notified of that as soon as I am able and receive a response to your complaint as soon as possible thereafter, normally within one calendar month of notification of a delay in response.
If you are dissatisfied with the resolution offered and your complaint is about something that falls under the jurisdiction of my regulator, the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons), or one of my professional behaviour associations, such as the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) or The Canine Behaviour and Training Society (TCBTS), you may be able to make a complaint to one or all of them:
RCVS: https://www.rcvs.org.uk/concerns/
APBC: https://www.apbc.org.uk/code-of-conduct-and-complaints-procedure/
TCBTS: https://www.tcbts.co.uk/complaints-policy

I also maintain both professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance.
